The adjectives describing Great Treasure Day at the Beach Clubs all around America sound strikingly familiar; awesome, incredible, amazing!  Those words are just a reflection of the joy that nearly 2,200 KiDs Beach Club® volunteers experienced when they handed out a copy of God’s Word to every child in every one of the 146 Beach Clubs.  “It’s just an amazing privilege to give every one of these students their very own Bible,” said Paul McKinney, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Eustace, Texas. 

As McKinney and 30 volunteers handed Bibles to each of the 112 children, numerous parents worked their way to the front to snap photos before a large applauding crowd that included the Assistant Superintendent, five school board members, principals from all four of the district’s campuses as well as several teachers from each of the schools.  “In our core values KiDs Beach Club® seeks to make Christ relevant by Impacting Communities for the Kingdom,” said Jack Terrell, President and Founder of KiDs Beach Club®  “The amazing out pouring of Eustace city officials as well as district personnel at the Eustace Great Treasure Day validates our ability to bridge the void between church and community. Everyone who attended that day was “impacted” by Christ. The overwhelming affirmation of the day reveals the underlining tenant that KBC needs to be there.”

McKinney’s church is in its first year of sponsoring the Beach Club at Eustace Intermediate School and he is elated with how the kids in his club have not only started to recognize the power of God’s Word in their own lives but are now wanting their friends to have the same experience.  Not only have these kids brought their friends with them to Beach Club but they are also bringing them to the weekly AWANA program at FBC-Eustace, which focuses on memorizing scripture. “It’s amazing because we haven’t really promoted our AWANA program but we have had several kids from Beach Club come to our AWANA,” McKinney said.  “The more we can get them engrained in the Bible, they’re going to tell their friends and bring their friends.  There’s no telling where the Lord can take this.” 

Many seeds planted at Beach Clubs over the years have already seen the fruit of children sharing the gospel at home with their siblings and parents and some of those conversations have resulted in professions of faith.  That hasn’t happened yet in Eustace during the first year of the Beach Club but Pastor McKinney can’t wait for that day.  “That would be amazing,” said McKinney. “There’s one place in scripture where it says Jesus was full of joy and that’s when the 72 came back and reported what they had done and He was full of joy because He had made disciples.  For a pastor, what greater joy is there than to see that you were used by God to make disciples that can reproduce themselves.”

Last month we shared a picture with you of a fourth grader named Chance who was hunkered down on his couch at home diligently digging through his brand new KBC Explorer’s Study Bible that he received earlier that day at Great Treasure Day. 

KiDs Beach Club® is very special to Chance as well as to his mom, Jennifer, and older brother, Austin. Two years ago his family moved to Highlands, Texas and Austin, a 5^th grader, started going to KiDs Beach Club®. Austin had already made Jesus his forever friend and was baptized a year earlier and Beach Club was helping him grow in his faith. Chance was in the 2^nd grade and heard all about the fun Austin was having and couldn’t wait until he became a third grader so he could go to Beach Club too.

Last year Chance moved into the third grade and started going to Beach Club. He was so excited. At the beginning of the school year Chance and his family received some hard news; they were told his father was missing. And in the next three weeks it was confirmed; Chance and Austin had lost their dad. Their mom, Jennifer Guillory, said, “My children were broken!” During this time Chance continued to attend Beach Club and a month after receiving this devastating news Chance said he wanted to be sure he went to heaven to be with Jesus and he made Jesus his forever friend. As you can imagine, Jennifer was so happy to hear this news. “Beach Club has definitely made a big impact on my family, ” Jennifer said.

Children come from many different backgrounds and have a variety of needs. It is a blessing and honor to provide the KiDs Beach Club® program along with supplying every child their very own copy of God’s Word. This is our chance, your chance, to serve children that may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn about Christ!

On February 11, 2015, KiDs Beach Club® reached an enrollment of 10,000 children. Thinking back 10 years ago when the first Beach Club was piloted in one school, we had no idea how far God would take us.  And we are sure He has more in store!

They’re here! 
Thanks to the gifts and prayers of many people, 10,000 KiDs Beach Club® Explorer Study Bibles have arrived in North Texas and soon will be in the hands of every child in every Beach Club.  Because of this generosity and monthly support of Bibles for Beach Club, thousands of volunteers nationwide will be handing out these Bibles in a celebration called Great Treasure Day in every one of our 144 clubs. 

On that special day during week 5 of Beach Club in February or March, our leaders will hand out these Bibles emphasizing how special and valuable this book is because it is God’s Word to us and therefore should be considered a treasure that should be treated respectfully. 

The first verse these kids will read out of their new Bible is Psalm 119:162 which is their memory verse for the day,  “I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure.” Our Bible story leader will then have the kids turn to 2 Kings 22-23 where they will see a powerful example of how Josiah found a great treasure in God’s Word.  That story will then lead the children into a time of prayer and opportunity to accept Jesus as their Forever Friend.  For those who choose to accept Christ, leaders will direct them to one of our special tip-in pages (see below), which points out how to know God and how to pray and ask Jesus into their lives.
