They Said Yes Before They Had the Money

They knew God was calling them to start a KiDs Beach Club®, but with an average monthly tithe of just $580, the numbers simply did not add up.

This story began with one woman who attended Cedar Grove and worked at a local elementary school that hosted a KiDs Beach Club®. When she stepped in to help one day, she fell in love with what she saw. Kids were hearing the Gospel. Lives were being impacted. Joy was filling the school.

She went back to her church excited about the possibility. She also knew it would be a stretch.

The church leadership had honest questions. Where would the money come from? Would they have enough volunteers? Was this too big of a step for a small congregation?

Brian, our Vice President of National Expansion, met with the 12 leaders and later shared the heart behind KiDs Beach Club® on a Sunday morning. After he finished, a man in the church stood up and challenged the congregation. If God was calling them to this, they needed to stop being passive. They needed to pray, step up, and trust Him.

Something shifted that day.

People committed to volunteer. Members pledged what they could financially. The church decided to move forward, even though the funding was not fully in place.

When asked if he was nervous about them committing without the money in hand, Brian said, “Nope. I told them I almost promised them it would fall out of the sky. If they stayed obedient, the money would come.”

Several weeks after that first conversation, anonymous checks arrived in the mail totaling close to $3,000.

No one expected it. No one saw it coming. They had prayed for provision, but they did not know how God would answer. When the leadership opened the envelope, they were in tears, shouting hallelujah and praising Jesus. The donation covered their startup costs and more.

Today, they already have over 20 students enrolled in their Beach Club, and more are continuing to sign up. Doors are opening. Faith is growing.

As Brian often reminds churches, “He provides for an obedient heart.”

This testimony is a reminder that provision often follows obedience. If they had waited until they felt ready or financially secure, they might have missed the miracle. Instead, they chose faith first.

For with God nothing is impossible!

Meet The Staffer: Katy Hinkle

“Hello everyone! My name is Katy Hinkle. I am a proud Razorback, self-acclaimed chef, chronic organizer, and lover of all things Marvel and Dallas sports.”

Katy is originally from Coppell, Texas, where she graduated from Coppell High School before heading to the University of Arkansas. While at the U of A, she earned a degree in Business Management and Non-Profit Studies. During her college years, she was actively involved in her church, led small groups, worked at the summer camp she grew up attending Pine Cove Camps and took full advantage of all the beauty Northwest Arkansas has to offer.

In her free time, Katy loves thrifting, cooking, playing sports, and saying “yes” to a good board game night. One fun fact that may surprise you? She’s a big fan of PBR, Professional Bull Riding!

Katy’s journey to KBC was truly a God moment. After graduating in fall 2024, she remained in Fayetteville to continue working for a local nonprofit before completing a leadership internship at Pine Cove Woods Family Camp. Following her time at camp, she returned home to Coppell and began the job search. After several months of limited success and even spending time substitute teaching at a local elementary school, she came across the People Operations and Technology Coordinator position at KBC.

Throughout the hiring process, Katy experienced clarity and peace as she learned more about the organization. In a beautiful full-circle moment, she realized she had actually attended KiDs Beach Club herself when she was in elementary school.

Reflecting on that season, Katy shares:

“I was in a weird stage of life trying to figure out what was next. It felt confusing, draining, and very unknown. It was a time I had to really rely on the Lord and find peace in the unknown—because God knew, but I didn’t. Way easier said than done, but I took it day by day and worked on surrendering my comforts to the Lord. Then sure enough, in His timing, He provided an opportunity with KBC. I’m reminded again that my life is not in my control, and surrendering that to the Lord only makes my life more joyful.”

Katy is excited to grow in the operations world while serving an organization with a Kingdom mission. Although she has experience across a variety of roles, this is her first full-timeposition, and she is eager to learn and grow. Behind the scenes, Katy manages all things tech and is becoming the go-to expert on the team’s project management software.

When asked about working at KBC, she says:

“I have always loved being a help to people. Coming into this role was a beautiful example of utilizing the capabilities I have to serve where needed. I get to do that every day—solving problems and helping behind the scenes so operations can flow smoothly for everyone else.”

Katy’s Favorites

Favorite coffee order: Katy mainly drinks water! (Aside from her V8 Energy

drinks, of course.)

Favorite worship song: Monday Morning Faith by SEU Worship & Chelsea Plank or West

Texas Wind by NEEDTOBREATHE

Go-to comfort food: Chipotle

Ideal day off: Thrifting or hanging out at the park with friends, followed by a game night

Random fun fact: Katy is semi-fluent in ASL!

Faith Without Borders

Andrew Van der Bijl was born in the Netherlands in the late 1920s. Coming from a poor family, he decided to join the military when he turned 18 to try to find stability in his life.

While serving in the Army, he was shot in the ankle. During his lengthy rehabilitation, Andrew found a Bible his mother had given him. Even though he knew very little about God, he dedicated himself to reading God’s Word, and soon realized his need for a Savior. After committing his life to the Lord, he attended a missionary college in Scotland and devoted his life to spreading God’s Word.

In 1955, Andrew traveled to then-communist Poland, where he met a bookstore owner who said that copies of the Bible were very rare. That statement convinced him to create a ministry to get Bibles into all parts of the world, and the Open Doors ministry was born that very year.

From that day onwards, God led “Brother Andrew – God’s Smuggler” on a new adventure of bringing Bibles behind the Iron Curtain and into the Middle East. Since its founding, Open Doors has given away hundreds of thousands of Bibles around the world. Andrew’s abiding faith God and love for His precious Word gave purpose and meaning to his life.

KBC understands Brother Andrew’s heart for getting God’s Word into the hands of those who need it the most; the lost and hurting in this world. KBC has handed out more than 81,500 free Bibles to children in Beach Clubs® across the country.

But we couldn’t do that with the financial support of our faithful KBC GEMs (Give Every Month). Our monthly donors provide the backbone of support we need to share Jesus with countless children every year. Would you please join us as a ministry partner by signing up to give to KBC monthly?

Jan 27 11:08 AM

Happy 20th Birthday, KiDs Beach Club®! 🎉

This month, we’re overjoyed to celebrate 20 incredible years of KiDs Beach Club®! What started as a small dream to bring the Gospel into public schools has grown into a powerful movement that’s touched countless lives across the country and around the world. We are filled with gratitude for God’s faithfulness, the dedication of our team, and the unwavering support of our church partners and donors who have made this journey possible.

A Mission That Matters

Since 2006, KiDs Beach Club® has been focused on one mission: connecting kids to Christ and putting Bibles in their hands. Through after-school Bible clubs hosted in public schools, we’ve had the privilege of sharing the Gospel with thousands of preteens who may never have encountered the love of Jesus otherwise. Every child’s story and every Bible distributed is a testament to the life-changing power of God’s Word.

By the Numbers

  • 129,750 KiDs impacted through Beach Club®

  • 28,625 Volunteers who have given their time to lead Beach Clubs®

  • 10,507 Professions of Faith celebrated in Beach Club®

  • 81,397 Bibles distributed through Beach Club®

Highlights of the Journey

Over the past 20 years, we’ve seen incredible milestones:

  • Hundreds of Clubs: From a single club to hundreds across the country, we’ve partnered with churches to bring the light of Christ into schools and communities.

  • Countless Professions of Faith: Over 10,500 children have encountered Jesus as their Savior, forever changing the trajectory of their lives.

  • Bible Distribution Milestones: Thanks to the generosity of our donors, over 81,397 Bibles have been placed in the hands of children, equipping them to grow in God’s Word.

Looking Back and Moving Forward

As we celebrate this significant milestone, we’re reminded of the many stories that highlight the impact of KiDs Beach Club®. Stories like the child who shared Jesus with their whole family, leading them to faith. Or the church that launched a Beach Club and saw entire families begin attending worship services together. These stories fuel our passion and remind us why we do what we do.

While we look back with gratitude, we also look ahead with excitement. There are still countless children and families who need to hear the Gospel, and we’re committed to expanding our reach, launching new clubs, and making an eternal impact for God’s Kingdom.

Join Us in the Celebration!

We invite you to celebrate this milestone with us! Here are a few ways you can join in:

KiDs Beach Club® Builds Promising Connections at the 2026 Children’s Pastors Conference

This month, Brian Broussard (Vice President of National Expansion), Tina Kimbro (Southeast Mobilization Coordinator), and Gricelda Wells (Serve Team Specialist), shared the mission of KiDs Beach Club® at the Children's Pastors Conference in Orlando, Florida. This annual gathering brings together children’s ministry leaders from across the nation to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore new ways to reach kids with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For our team, it was the perfect platform to connect churches with their local communities through Beach Clubs®.

Sharing the Vision

Tina Kimbro, our Southeast Mobilization Coordinator, shared her excitement: “My spirit was moved with excitement as I interacted with so many young ministers, eager to gather new and innovative ideas for reaching their communities for Christ. I am excited to know that the future of Children’s Ministry is in such good and faithful hands, as God continues to kindle a deep desire in their hearts to take the Gospel to the hearing and hearts of children.”

During the conference, Tina and our team engaged in meaningful conversations with ministry leaders who were eager to make an eternal impact on the lives of kids in their communities. Many church leaders were amazed to learn that the opportunity to establish Bible clubs on school campuses existed. Tina recalled, “What a blessing it was to see their excitement in learning that God has prepared a way. KiDs Beach Club has a proven turn-key approach to helping them build a Great Commission bridge from their church to an elementary school of their choice in their community. We committed to do everything necessary to assist them in growing the Kingdom and growing their church through their Beach Club efforts.”

Expanding Promising Connections

Throughout the three-day event, our team connected with church leaders from a wide variety of denominations and sizes. These conversations were more than just introductions—they were the beginnings of promising partnerships with the potential to transform lives. Many leaders expressed immediate interest in launching Beach Clubs® in their communities, and others were inspired to explore how this ministry could serve as a bridge between their church and the children and families in their schools.

Looking Ahead

The connections made at CPC 2026 have energized our team and reaffirmed our mission. Each conversation represents a new opportunity for children to encounter the love of Jesus, and for churches to expand their impact through Beach Clubs®. As KiDs Beach Club® continues to grow across the country, we are committed to equipping, supporting, and walking alongside churches in their mission to reach children where they are.

Faith in Action: Louis Zamperini

Jan 27 11:08 AM
Jan 27 11:08 AM

You may not immediately recognize the name Louis Zamperini, but you have likely heard of him. Louis was an outstanding runner, earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team in the 1936 Olympics (Berlin). Later, with World War II raging, he enlisted in the Army in 1941, but a plane he was in was shot down over the ocean near the Marshall Islands.

For 47 days, Louis drifted in the ocean on a life raft, fighting off sharks and eating any fish or birds he could catch. His rescue came at the hands of a Japanese warship, and he was taken prisoner of war and was gruesomely tortured for years.

When the war ended, Louis suffered from post-traumatic stress and terrible nightmares, falling into a deep depression and alcoholism. In 1949, even though he didn’t want to go, his wife took him to a Billy Graham crusade, where the message of Christ’s forgiveness gripped his heart and he gave his life to Jesus.

Experiencing God’s amazing forgiveness for himself, Louis went back to Japan and forgave the prison guards who mercilessly tortured him. He lived the remainder of his life as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Louis Zamperini’s life is chronicled in the book, and major motion picture, Unbroken.

Louis’ life of faith in action came later in his adult years. But KiDs Beach Club® knows that in today’s world, the best opportunity for someone to accept Jesus as their Forever Friend is in their pre-teen years.

As a KBC GEM (Gives Every Month), you can help empower our mission to reach children and their families with the good news of Jesus Christ by providing the stable, monthly support that enables lives to be changed forever.
